How to Check Whether Your Business Is Visible on Google

How to Check Whether Your Business Is Visible on Google

Today, when people need a particular product or service, Google is often one of the first places they turn to for information.

For example, someone might search for “dental clinic in Tbilisi,” “custom furniture manufacturing,” or “legal services.”

But this raises an important question: When potential customers search for the services you offer, can they find your business?

There are several simple ways to find out.

1. Search for Your Business Name

First, open Google and enter your company's exact name.

Check whether your website, social media pages, or Google Business Profile appear in the search results.

If your business appears, that's a good start. However, there's an important distinction:

Appearing on Google when someone searches for your company name doesn't necessarily mean potential customers can find you when searching for your services.

For example, someone may not know your company's name and might simply search for “custom furniture in Tbilisi.”

That's why the next step is important.

2. Search for Your Services, Not Your Company Name

Put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer.

What would you type into Google if you needed the services your business provides?

For example:

  1. “Beauty salon in Vake”
  2. “Legal consultation in Tbilisi”
  3. “Custom kitchen furniture”
  4. “Cleaning services”

Check whether your business appears in the relevant search results.

Keep in mind that Google search results may vary depending on the user's location, search query, and other factors.

If your business doesn't appear on the first page, it doesn't automatically mean there's a technical problem. Competition may be high, or your website may need better SEO optimization.

3. Check Your Business on Google Maps

Google Maps is especially important for local businesses.

Customers often use it to find nearby beauty salons, clinics, stores, and other services.

Open Google Maps and search for your business.

If your business profile exists, check whether:

  1. Your business name is correct;
  2. Your phone number is up to date;
  3. Your address and opening hours are accurate;
  4. Your website link is included;
  5. High-quality photos have been added.

If you don't have a business profile yet, you can use Google Business Profile - a free Google service that allows eligible businesses to manage how their information appears on Google Search and Maps.

4. Check Whether Google Knows About Your Website

If you have your own website, you can check whether Google displays its pages in search results.

To do this, enter the following into Google's search bar:

site:yourwebsite.com

For example:

site:anrastudio.com

Google will display pages it finds from your domain. However, this search operator doesn't always provide a complete list of indexed pages.

If no results appear, it doesn't necessarily mean your website isn't indexed by Google at all.

For a more accurate assessment, there's a dedicated tool you can use.

5. Use Google Search Console

Google Search Console is a free tool that helps website owners understand how their websites perform in Google Search.

It allows you to monitor:

  1. Impressions - How many times your website appeared in Google search results;
  2. Clicks - How many times users clicked through to your website;
  3. Search Queries - Which search terms people use to find your website;
  4. Indexing - Which pages are indexed and which may have indexing issues.

For example, you might discover that your website appeared in Google search results hundreds of times, but only a few users actually clicked through to it.

This information can help you identify which pages and search queries deserve more attention.

What Does This Mean for Your Business?

Being visible on Google and attracting customers through Google are not the same thing.

Your website may be indexed, but it might not appear for the search terms your potential customers actually use.

That's why having a website isn't enough on its own. A well-organized website structure, relevant content, technical SEO, and regular performance monitoring are also important.

Remember: Customers don't always search for your company name - they often search for a solution to a problem or a specific service.

That's when it becomes especially important for your business to be easy to find on Google.
